The one mistake I see small business owners making is setting up a website with about 5 or 6 pages of static content that they never update and they seem to think just by having an online presence that it is going to increase there business.

Its sort of like buying a car and not being able to drive it, but at least you can impress everyone by telling them that you have a car.

Google loves fresh content, so if you are one of those small business owners with a website you setup two years ago and never updated, consider adding a wordpress blog to your website and downloading “windows live writer” which will allow you to easily update your blog daily (Absolutely zero skill required when using windows live writer!).

I guarantee if you add a wordpress blog and add unique fresh content a couple of times per week the search engines will pick up on it and before long you will be ranking higher for terms related to your business in the search engines and will have noticed a substantial increase in traffic, then you will be kicking yourself and wondering why on earth did you not do this before! especially since wordpress is free!
